Position and responsibilities
Within the finance team, the Senior Financial Controller (FP&A) plays a key role in further developing planning, forecasting and performance management. The role is clearly focused on translating financial data into forward looking insights and improving processes and reporting.
You act as the right hand to the Senior Manager FP&A and are an important sparring partner for various stakeholders within finance and the business. In this role, the focus is less on traditional accounting and more on analysis, improvement and supporting decision making.
As a Senior Financial Controller (FP&A), you work closely with Business Control, Financial Control and other stakeholders to increase financial transparency and further strengthen performance management.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Responsible for financial planning, forecasting and performance analyses for multiple business units
- Playing an active role in the budgeting and forecasting process
- Analysing financial and operational drivers and translating complex data into clear management insights
- Identifying, initiating and realising improvement initiatives within FP&A and reporting processes
- Taking ownership of improvement initiatives from analysis through to implementation
- Simplifying, standardising and automating planning, forecasting and reporting processes
- Improving data quality, process efficiency and speed of insights through smarter use of systems, models, tooling and AI
- Collaborating with Financial Control and Business Control to embed improvements sustainably within the finance operating model
- Analysing financial and operational performance and identifying variances and risks
- Translating analyses into concrete recommendations for management and the business
- Participating in monthly performance reviews and explaining variances versus prior year and forecast
Profile
- Completed academic degree in Finance, Business Economics, Accounting or similar
- Approximately 8 years of relevant experience in financial control, FP&A or performance management
- Experience within a professional or knowledge intensive organisation (for example professional services) is a strong plus
- Strong analytical and fact based mindset
- Ability to present complex information clearly through reporting, presentations and visualisations
- Strong advisory skills and ability to influence
- Stakeholder aware and able to operate effectively across different levels of the organisation
